Granny Hester’s Homemade Sweet Potato Biscuits |
|
If you are looking for a true southern treat, try Granny Hester's Homemade Sweet Potato Biscuits originally prepared in Fort Payne, Alabama by Tracy Johnson. Tracey has perfected her grandmother’s recipe over the years and now wants everyone in Alabama to taste her grandmother’s goodness. Granny Hester first made her now famous sweet potato biscuits as a treat for her husband in 1943 when he was in the navy. Since that time, this family recipe has been practiced, perfected and passed down for several generations. Tracy, Mrs. Hester’s granddaughter, first tried her hand at making the biscuits for public consumption in 2005 and entered stores quickly in the Fort Payne area by 2006.
Today Tracy produces Granny Hester's Homemade Sweet Potato Biscuits in a local kitchen where her biscuits are also sold named Third Street Market in Fort Payne. Her fresh, hot biscuits are also served at Lookout Muffin, Wildflower Cafe and Little River Cafe. If you want to buy her frozen biscuits and cook them at your own convenience in your home you can buy them at the three Foodland stores in the Fort Payne area. Tracy can be found sampling and selling her biscuits at several local venues and even won Best in Show twice at the county fair.
