International Trade

International Trade & Marketing

Alabama the Bountiful offers a wealth of products to the world. The Office of International Trade and Marketing and its staff assists agribusinesses interested in prospecting the global marketplace.

Services Include:

  • Establishing export trade directories. 

  • Providing literature and marketing assistance for companies interested in starting an export business. 

  • Assisting in coordination of visits from foreign buyers to Alabama farms, value added processing/manufacturing facilities, and product promotional events. 

  • Sponsoring seminars and conferences that focus on international trade and foreign markets. 

  • Arranging and hosting trade missions to foreign countries to help Alabama companies meet prospective international clients. 

  • Identifying requirements for foreign import and providing assistance in obtaining appropriate documentation. 

  • Participating in trade shows and sales missions to key agricultural market destinations.

Export Assistance

SUSTA (The Southern U.S. Trade Association) is a non-profit export market development association composed of 15 southern states and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Some of the services offered to southern U.S. exporters of food and agricultural products are:
  • Branded promotion programs,
  • Market research,
  • Promotional trade events,
  • Export training,
  • Export data,
  • Trade contacts,
  • and many other resources
FAS (USDA Foreign Agricultural Service) with its Washington-based staff of analysts and a worldwide network of agricultural attaches and trade offices, provides a variety of services to improve foreign market access for U.S. products.

Exposure For Products In India

The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries, under the India Initiative, is working with the Southern United States Trade Association (SUSTA), a trade group of all of the southern Departments of Agriculture, to participate in the Indian International Food and Wine Show in January 19-21, 2006 (IFOWS’ 06) in New Delhi, India and Hospitality World Show in Mumbai, India in January 23-26, 2006. It is anticipated that there will be about 12,053 buyers and imports at these shows.
