FTC orders standard ID for all pumps dispensing B5 or higher biodiesel blends
The Federal Trade Commission has ordered that all US pumps dispensing B5 or high blends of biodiesel have proper identification. The FTC has issued a 44-page ruling outlining its labeling requirements, and will impose fines of up to $11,000 per day for non-compliance. The regulations take affect on December 16, 2008.

DOE Announces Solicitations for $30.5 Billion in Loan Guarantees
WASHINGTON, DC -The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today announced three solicitations for a total of up to $30.5 billion in federal loan guarantees for projects that employ advanced energy technologies that avoid, reduce or sequester air pollutants or greenhouse gas emissions. The three solicitations are in the areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy and advanced transmission and distribution technologies; nuclear power facilities; and advanced nuclear facilities for the 'front-end' of the nuclear fuel cycle.

Biodiesel and Renewable Diesel Tax Credits Extended
On May 15, the House Ways and Means Committee approved the Energy and Tax Extenders Act of 2008 by a vote of 25 to 12. The legislation creates a new $1.01/gallon tax credit for cellulosic biofuels and extends the $1.00/gallon production credit for biodiesel and renewable diesel fuel made from biomass. In addition to this extension, the bill eliminates the requirement that renewable diesel fuel must be produced through a thermal deploymerization process, but notes that diesel fuel created by co-processing biomass with other feedstocks would be limited to the $.50/gallon tax credit for alternative fuels.

Farm Pilot Project Coordination Approves Funding For Renewable Energy Initiatives
The Board of Directors at Farm Pilot Project Coordination, Inc. has approved additional funding to support a renewable energy initiative by authorizing three (3) additional pilot projects. The intent is to convert the waste steam into a revenue stream by producing an energy product.
